B.R. Cohn is a producer of boutique wines in Sonoma Valley. This small family-operated winery is surrounded by the 90-acre Olive Hill Estate Vineyards, where soils warmed by underground natural hot springs and gentle ocean breezes create a unique microclimate. In my opinion, the Olive Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most elegant California Cabs. The 2004 vintage is rich and silky with deep aromas of black currant, black cherries and plum. The finish is long and intense with flavours of chocolate, eucaliptus and spice. Tannins are extremely smooth and the high acidity keeps the wine extremely balanced and suitable for food-pairings. This wine was aged for 2 years in French Oak barrels. Total production: 3,600 cases. Retail price is around $50. Excellent value.
